Lumentum is seeking to hire a Calibration and Test Software Engineer Co-op/Intern for our Ottawa based team.

The Opportunity…

4-month term: September 2023 to December 2023

8-month term (preferred): September 2023 to April 2024

12-month term: September 2023 to August 2024

What will you do in this role?

The student shall participate as a developer working on real projects in a team environment:

  • Work closely with R&D teams to develop calibration and test plans aimed at optimizing product performance and ensuring compliance to specifications.
  • Develop automation software and work with manufacturing facilities to introduce and support calibration and test implementation.
  • Through teamwork and technical approaches, solve problems related to product failures or test system issues.
  • Enhance reliability, yield, and throughput of test processes in manufacturing while maintaining low cost.
  • Manage test data and production trends to enable continuous improvement.
  • Trial and deploy developed improvements in remotely located manufacturing plants.

What experience will allow you the greatest success in this role?

  • Recommended 3rd or 4th year Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, although software-inclined candidates from other Engineering and Science disciplines would also be considered.
  • Programming experience with Object-oriented languages (VB, C#, Java)
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Experience developing/working with embedded systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with optical systems is an asset.
