Responsibilities

It’s an exciting time at Post Consumer Brands as we revolutionize how we go to market. As the Sr. Manager of Category Management, you will be a critical part of the Commercial Strategy and Execution team and the leader responsible for translating our brand and innovation strategies into compelling selling stories that drive growth for our customers and PCB. We are looking for a dynamic leader who executes with speed, drives focus and clarity, builds strong cross-functional working relationships and develops best in class team and individual capabilities.

Overview

This position will lead PCB’s category development (brand facing) and category management (customer facing) initiatives to turn PCB’s brand strategies into customer selling stories that bring brands to life in stores. This individual is responsible for leading marketing and sales activities across both the Canada and International teams that will drive category growth for our customers. Ultimately, he/she is responsible for leading the development of the channel/customer specific playbooks that will outline the optimal category strategy to include product assortment, price and pack strategy by brand, as well as gap/opportunity identification by channel/customer.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work collaboratively across the organization and lead development of the category growth story
  • Develop 3 year category strategy to build our brands and gain share with key customers
  • Effectively translate brand strategies into category and customer specific plans working collaboratively with marketing teams, insight teams, and customer sales teams
  • Lead the execution of the category development agenda consistent with brand guidelines, portfolio objectives and customer segmentation/prioritization
  • Serve as the category expert internally, creating compelling, actionable & measurable category plans
  • Translate national selling stories into customer-specific selling stories and fact based selling tools that drive growth for the customer and PCB
  • Develop optimal category strategy by channel (product assortment, price/pack strategy, etc.)
  • Provide category analysis and recommendations for product assortment, placement, and promotion
  • Maintain tracking and reporting of company and customer assortments to monitor progress against goals, manage the customer category review process
  • Lead delivery of category dashboard / fundamentals and recommend corrective actions to ensure targets are met – revenue, space/range and distribution

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business Administration; Masters preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 7-10+ years of experience, preferably in the consumer goods/food industry and in a category management, sales strategy or trade marketing role
  • Proven experience in category development, category management, key accounts and market insights analysis and delivering growth through category leadership
  • Strong business acumen, general management & P&L experience
  • Creative problem solver – finds innovative ways around resource constraints
  • Ability to develop and deliver a strategic plan, measuring and monitoring results, and make recommendations to achieve growth targets
  • Strong track record of leadership across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including great listening skills
  • Strong leadership/coordination ability in a matrixed environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent skills in the areas of time management and organization
