Payroll Administrator

As the Payroll Administrator you will be responsible for ensuring the process of payroll and the administration of benefits is completed in a timely manner as well as being a key contact for human resources policies and procedures.
What will you be doing?
- Managing the input, calculation, and collection of all necessary payroll data, including timecards, vacation and other leave requests.
- Reviewing and verifying payroll documentation and payroll-processing output, and analyze transactions for completeness, accuracy and compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Communicating with employees and their managers when pay documentation is incomplete or does not adhere to established payroll practices.
- Reviewing, investigating, and resolving discrepancies in payroll.
- Ensuring payroll is properly processed in a time efficient manner.
- Preparing and remitting WSIB, RRSP and Group Insurance premiums.
- Balancing payrolls register at year-end for production of employee T4/T4a slips.
- Calculating taxable benefits at year-end.
- Communicating with and providing information and specified reports to outside organizations such as Canada Revenue Agency, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, Statistics Canada, etc.
- Preparing periodic reports and remittances for Worker’s Compensation.
- Ensuring legal compliance with federal and provincial laws and stay up to date with changes in labor legislation.
- Reconciling biweekly payroll register to journal vouchers for accounting input.
- Creating reports with UKG PRO to support HR and Accounting.
- Supporting accounting month-end and year-end close process.
- Processing bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
What do you bring?
- Minimum College diploma in business or accounting is required.
- CPA (Canadian Payroll Association) designation is required.
- Knowledge of a federally regulated work environment is desirable.
- 5 to 10 years experience in a payroll position.
- Knowledge of UKG or other payroll system.
- A valid Class G license
- Clean criminal record check
- Bilingual (English/ French) is an asset.
