STATUS: PART-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. 2-3 MONTHS)


WAGE RATE: $22.976 – $23.548


Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Service Worker is responsible for the preparation and service of safe, high quality food to patients.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:


Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow written and verbal job instructions (to be tested)
  • Ability to follow basic arithmetic calculations (to be tested if necessary)
  • Ability to demonstrate correct lifting and carrying techniques of items weighing in range of 10-50 lbs (to be tested)
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to meet Public Health standards related to food handling
  • Ability to meet physical demands (prolonged standing, frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pulling and pushing of retherming & support carts)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
  • Adherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes


Preferred

  • Food Handler Certificate within past 5 years
  • Experience working in an institutional food service environment
