We are seeking a nurturing and dedicated Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead educator in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational and play activities.
  • Provide support and supervision to children during daily routines, including meals, naptime, and outdoor play.
  • Help prepare and organize learning materials, resources, and activity areas.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Observe and document children’s behaviors, progress, and developmental milestones.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child’s day and addressing any concerns.
  • Collaborate with the lead educator to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in promoting positive behavior and social interactions among children.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education.
  • Follow the guidance and direction of the lead educator and actively contribute to team meetings and discussions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an early childhood education assistant certificate or diploma program is preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in early childhood settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, compassion, and the ability to create a nurturing and supportive environment for young children.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions from lead educators.
  • Basic computer skills for administrative tasks and record-keeping.
  • First Aid and CPR certification may be required or preferred.
  • Prior experience working with young children in a daycare or preschool setting is an asset.

Tasks

  • Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
  • Storytelling
  • Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
