Opportunity
Olympic Industries is currently searching for a highly motivated and passionate Data Engineer/Developer to join our team!Reporting to the Head of Derivatives and Data, the Data Engineer/Developer will work in an individual and team capacity to extract, store, and transform internal data, ensure data integrity, and develop the backend of internal dashboards.
Specific Responsibilities
The Data Engineer/Developer is responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the company:Develop, construct, test, and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes. Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications. Assist in code optimization in data science and trading projects. Trouble shoot and debug automation and scraping program code. Assist Full-Stack Data Developer with backend development. Work with the Data Team and the Traders to improve in-house web solutions.
Education and Experience
An academic background in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, or related technical field. 1+ years of experience in writing SQL queries and working with databases, such as MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.Strong programming skills in Python. Elementary knowledge of JavaScript.Experience in back-end web frameworks such as Node, Express, Django and/or Flask. Knowledge of Google Sheets and Script.Working knowledge of basic data structures and algorithms. Prior experience in building web-based applications considered an asset.Knowledge in machine learning, data mining, statistical modelling, and forecasting considered an asset.Knowledge or experience in working with REST API and Web Socket to extract, manipulate, and automate data considered an asset.Experience in front-end development with React, Angular, HTML, and/or CSS considered an asset.
