Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring spices.
- Cook meals according to recipes or instructions, ensuring proper cooking times and temperatures.
- Monitor and adjust seasoning to achieve desired flavors.
- Plate and present meals attractively.
- Ensure food storage, handling, and hygiene practices are followed to maintain food safety standards.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff, such as chefs and sous chefs, to coordinate meal preparation.
- Follow kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Assist in inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Adhere to portion control and minimize food waste.
- Stay updated with culinary trends and techniques, and incorporate new ideas into meal preparation.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar role within a professional kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and methods.
- Understanding of various cuisines and flavor combinations.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adapt as needed.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely meal preparation.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of a busy kitchen.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Culinary education or training is an advantage but not always required.
