Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Diagnosis and Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot small engines to identify mechanical, electrical, or fuel-related issues. Perform necessary repairs, replacements, or adjustments to restore functionality and ensure optimal performance.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and service tasks on small engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug replacements, carburetor cleaning, and belt adjustments. Follow manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Identify required parts and order or procure them from suppliers. Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs. Keep accurate records of parts used, services performed, and customer information.
- Customer Service: Interact with customers to understand equipment issues, provide estimates, and explain repairs or maintenance required. Offer guidance on equipment usage, storage, and maintenance practices to optimize performance and longevity. Provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining professional communication.
- Technical Knowledge and Upkeep: Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and new equipment models. Attend training sessions, workshops, or manufacturer-sponsored courses to enhance technical knowledge and skills. Adapt to evolving technologies and diagnostic tools to efficiently troubleshoot and repair small engines.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to regulations and guidelines related to hazardous materials, waste disposal, and equipment operation. Promote safe practices among staff and customers.
- Equipment Testing and Quality Control: Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality, performance, and adherence to quality standards. Make necessary adjustments or rework if required. Conduct final inspections before returning equipment to customers.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, invoices, and service reports. Document repairs, parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions accurately and efficiently. Provide regular updates on repair progress and estimated completion times to customers.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or in a related role.
- Strong knowledge of small engine mechanics, including troubleshooting, repair techniques, and maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment specific to small engine repairs.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose issues accurately and efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to perform precise and reliable repairs.
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers and provide clear explanations of repairs and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for working with small engines and handling equipment.
