Salary(s):
RO2 $1,678.40 – $1,900.00 bi-weekly Plus Remoteness Allowance if applicable. Plus $1.25 per hour weekend premium and $12.80 per shift premium as applicable; bunkhouse accommodations may be provided dependent upon location.

The Department of Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources is seeking strong, highly-motivated individuals to fill the role of Patrol Captain. Draw from your experience in law enforcement and help promote public safety within Manitoba Provincial Parks.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be eligible for appointment as a Patrol Officer.
- Must possess and maintain a valid full-stage Manitoba Class 4 driver’s licence or an equivalent out-of-province licence.
- Must possess a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check. A current valid original Child Abuse Registry Check must be obtained and must not expire before June 1, 2024 (Valid for 6 months)*
- Must possess a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. A current valid original Criminal Record Check must be obtained and must not expire before June 1, 2024* (Valid for 6 months)
- Must have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted.
- Must possess and maintain current Standard First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates or an approved equivalent.*
- Must be willing and able to work irregular shifts including: evenings, weekends and overtime.
- Must be willing and able to travel including overnight stays for extended periods of time.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties required of this position including working in various adverse weather conditions, walking over rough terrain, and lifting weights of up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Prior to May 2024, completion of a diploma/degree from an approved Resource Management University or College program with resource law enforcement content, or a graduate from a recognized law enforcement diploma program or Police Studies program, or a diploma/degree in Environmental Studies/Sciences with a minimum of 3 credit hours of law courses satisfactory to the department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in enforcement, as determined to be satisfactory to the department. **Applicants are required to submit a copy of their diploma/degree along with their application.
- Knowledge of legislation in law enforcement and legislative compliance.
- Experience in any type of law enforcement and legislative compliance.
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under stress.
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision, with good time management skills.
- Ability to coach, train, and mentor others on the job in basic skills and best practices.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
Desired:
- Experience supervising employees.
- Knowledge and understanding of Conservation Service operational directives, policies, and procedures.
Duties:
As a Patrol Captain, you will be responsible for supervising Patrol Officers and will participate in the Park Patrol program within a specified district. You will ensure the safety of resource users and the general public, investigate violations and complaints, gather evidence, prepare enforcement documents, and carry through on investigation to a successful prosecution. Upon completion of the park season, you will be responsible to make recommendations and prepare end of season reports. Additionally, you may perform duties relating to depredation and predation programs and provide assistance to staff in various resource disciplines. Depending on the location, you may be required to travel backcountry areas, remote river systems and large bodies of water, and be away for extended periods of time.
