New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member is involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure. The successful candidate will be expected to teach six 3-credit hour courses per academic year on the TSS pattern or eight 3-credit hour courses per academic year on the TS pattern. Class sizes typically average between 35-40 students.
This tenure-track faculty will be hired into a teaching/service (TS) work pattern. The successful candidate will become an integral member of our full-time Human Resources team. This means that the faculty member will be responsible for teaching four courses each semester and will be an active participant in various service roles.
Responsibilities
- Instruction: course delivery including preparation of course outlines, other course materials, course activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and course learning management systems; and
- Administration: administer final exams, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in course-related meetings, as required; and
- Service: may include: coaching student competition teams, mentoring student clubs, assisting with the development of curriculum, and serving on departmental or university committees; and
- Community: At Mount Royal University our industry connections are an important and integral part of our programs. The successful candidate will be required to actively liaise with human resources industry partners or professional associations on behalf of the Bissett School of Business.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree is required. A completed (or ABD) PhD in human resources, or closely related field, is preferred.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset;
- Teaching experience in human resources at the post-secondary level and the ability to teach introductory through to senior level human resources courses;
- Demonstrated 10-15 years of professional human resources experience and expertise;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- The Department will give preference to candidates who have experience with Indigenous Relations and established connections to Indigenous communities, including students
