Security Guard Nightshift (Terrace Campus)
Job description and duties
Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace Campus, invites applications for a continuing full-time Security Guard Nightshift commencing as soon as possible. Monday to Friday, 1:00 am – 8:00 am (35 hours a week) Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff Scale, Level 5: $1971.20 biweekly
Duties:
Monitor and patrol CMTN buildings, facilities and grounds and investigate disturbances or matters of concern.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide a visual security presence and deterrence
- Secure all buildings and residences, check security access systems after college business hours, and conduct regular patrols of the campus
- Actively monitor and respond to issues arising that may include interpersonal conflict, drug / alcohol use, violence, vandalism
- Ensure compliance with campus residence rules
- Monitor and respond to safety issues, liaising with RCMP and Emergency Services when necessary
Qualifications
A BC Security Worker License; Grade 12 diploma; and First Aid certification / Survival First Aid along with training or background knowledge of fire safety procedures.

- Demonstrated ability to act as an authoritative figure while working alone
- Reliable, conscientious, responsible and committed to safe job performance
- Dedicated to customer service excellence and skilled at handling and defusing stressful and emotionally charged situations
- Highly organized and comfortable working with minimal supervision
- Able to use discretion when handling confidential and private information
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
